The Hussey/Donohoe Family vacationed at Walt Disney World this Aprilvacation. By luck, there was a 5K right in the Disney Wide World of Sportscomplex on April 15. A first time event with all the organization and class that Disney is known for. The adult race was first, which began at 5pm with humidity and 80-85'temps. (a shock to the system I might add). With about 600 runners starting the race we never crossed paths while still remaining within the huge sports complex. The finish line was marked by a colorftil hot airballoon and an arch over the finish line. Champion Chips were used for timing, age group awards went deep (three huge medals awarded for every five year age categoiy) first high School firnishers received $1000 scholarships. The winner was a High School runner finishing in 15:44 and also receiving $100 Footlocker gift certificate in addition to the $1000.

The most fun of the day was the "kids" race. Matthew (7) and James Hussey (3) toed the line in separate races of 1000 meters and 400 meters. Both finished well and had a lot of fin with the family cheering on enthusiastically. florida is a great place to race once your heat acclimated!
