EAT'N RUN
Chris and Judy Sargent
15 Landear Street
Saturday, February 24th , 2001

Anyone else interested in hosting an EAT'N RUN? We are looking for volunteers. An EAT'N RUN is when a club member will host other club members at their home for a brunch after one of our Saturday morning club runs. It's a noce social event that brings club members together.

NEW BABY

Congratulations to Evan and Michael Mages on the birth of their son.
Robert Mages was born on January 20th at 9 PM and weighed in at 10 lbs and 6 ozs. It was a long labor for Evan but everyone is doing well. This was their first child and we wish them nothing but a life-time of happiness with their new son.

MARATHON QUOTE: "The Marathon, like most things worth doing, offers risks and rewards. Because it gives a chance to go beyond uaual boundries and at least an equal possibility of failing - the race both attracts and frightens runners"

BOSTON MARATHON NUMBERS

The Parkway Running Club had it's annual Boston Marathon number lottery in January 1 after the "Resolution Run". The following PRC membes will receive numbers for this years marathon.

Jim Sweeney, John Donnolly, Kay O'Malley, John Govoni, Ricardo-Hernandez-Pinzon

Congratulations and best of luck in your training.

Their were also five alternates chosen. Peter Meagher, J.T. Lenoch, Tony Moscaritolo, Carol Hani, Keith Shields

They will receive a number in the order they were chosen if any of the top 5 can not participate

HOW TO RECEIVE A PRC BOSTON MARATHON NUMBER

Traditionally PRC has a lottery for Boston Marathon numbers for club members each year. The BAA gives the club 5 invitational applications.
Club names are deawn from a hat. You have an opportunity to have your name in the hat several times.
Each volunteer event puts your name in the hat. Each club member has a name in for membership in the club.

The club has a list of events that members can volunteer for.

1. YMCA Triathlon 2. Diane's Santa Scamper 3. Tufts health Care 10K 4. Chase Corporate Challenge

also by attending 3 of our 6 club meetings

For example, if you volunteer for 2 of the 4 events listed above, and attend 3 meetings your name will go in the hat 4 times (one for membership alone).

USATAF MEMBERSHIP

Just a reminder that PRC encourages all runners to start/renew their USA track and Field memberships. Why is this important? For a number of reasons:

(1) Every year, PRC receives a number of waivers for the Boston marathon. These waivers allow runners who have not yet met their qualifying times to "bypass the system" and get an official race number. The number of waivers PRC receives can be related to the # of PRC folks who are active members in USATF. So if you want to run Boston -- or even if you merely want to help out PRC friends who want to run -- your mentership in USATF is really important'

(2) USATF membership is cheap, comes with cool runner benefits (e.g., a local newletter) and is a great way to support the sport we all love....

How do you join USATF? Simple. Goto USATF New England and scroll down to the bottom and click on Membership Benefits. There is a form you can fill out online. Piease note, the PRC club # is 176.
